baby names

I don't care who you are, every girl loves thinking of names for their unborn child.  I have been making lists since I was 10 years old.   It is a daunting task, giving someone a name, an identity for the rest of their life.  I never wanted my babies name to be really common (whoops Jackson, ranked #17 ) or too different (whoops Nash, ranked #575).  I read this article, American Baby Names Are Somehow Getting Even Worse, and thought it was spot on true and funny.  I prefer sticking with family names to make it easier on myself.  I also like to pretend I don't know what the name will be until right before the baby is born because I really don't want to hear your opinion or that you are naming your kid that or that is your dogs name or the perverts name that lives down the street.
Anyways the reason I have baby names on the brain is because my sister is pregnant! And her due date is December 28th.  Happy Birthday Aunt Rebekah!  I wonder if she likes to use family names too? Just saying.

We were named after our grandmothers?!? How embarrassing.

weekend

Charlie is not working at all this weekend, we have friends in town visiting and no real place to be.  I love traveling but I have really been looking forward to a weekend like this.

Wilson

We skyped with Aunt Natalie this morning and she mentioned to Jackson he should come to Wilson and go to a baseball game with her tonight.  You do not mention anything to Jackson unless you are going to follow through with it.  He does not forget.  I told him maybe sometime soon we could go to Wilson but we were busy today.  He took matter into his own hands; going upstairs, getting out the suitcases and packing up.  I heard him yell out, 'Mommy I ready to go to Wilson now!' and found this...

After sending the picture to Natalie she agreed to meet half-way, a win-win situation for everyone!

5 months!

Thanks for the comb-over ma...

Happy 5 months to this sweet chunk of goodness.  Nash is on antibiotics for his belly button, has an upset tummy, a cold, no naps and way too many swollen bug bites BUT that doesn't keep him from smiling.  He is loving milk and sweet potatoes, playing on his mat, chilling in the walker and johnny jump-up, looking at his mobile and hanging out with his mom in the baby bjorn.  This has opened up a whole new world of exploring.  We need to work on more tummy time, taking a bottle, sleeping better at night and bat-ball-tee (that was from Jackson).

ER

We had our first visit to the ER yesterday.  Thank God all turned out well in the Farris household but what a day.  When people say 'we spent all day in the ER' I never knew they really spent all day in the ER.  Nash had a swollen-red-pussy-itchy belly button yesterday morning when he got up.  I decided to get it checked out at the doctor's office where they sent us right over to the ER to get an ultra-sound to make sure nothing was bothered under the skin. (I won't elaborate on the immediate knot that developed in my throat or how fast my stomach turned) Lucky for Nash, Jackson and I, daddy showed up before we even got there.  Then we had a nice long family day.  We all waited in the waiting room, then we got to wait in the Triage room, then we got to wait in the ER room, then we got to wait in the ultra-sound room, then we got to wait a little more back in our comfy ER room.  The boys were really great.  We watched some TV, colored, played with stuff we shouldn't play with, made friends with all the nurses and worked on our potty training.  We finally headed out around 5:00 with a clear ultra-sound (yeah yeah yeah), prescription for antibiotics and two nap deprived boys.  Hopefully we can get this all cleared up sooner than later!

s-l-e-e-p

Did I ever tell ya'll that at 3 months Nash slept through the night?  No, because I knew the second I started bragging that it would stop.  Well, it stopped anyways.  And I am hoping that by typing this out I will jinx him back into some good sleeping habits.  Because this mama needs it!

Rise & Shine mama!

beach time!

We headed to Hilton Head Island for a few days to hang out with the Corona Family and friends.  It was a great trip.  I wouldn't go as far to say that is was a 'vacation' as I am exhausted.  We had an awesome grandma there for a few days to help us out, Nash was very thankful for that.  The beach at 4 months old just isn't much fun.
Jackson doing 'work.'  He enjoyed 'big jumps,' going 'unda wataa,' and 'snackss.'

My beach boys.  Nash is ready to head back under the tent in his moms arms and work on our moon tan some more.

Straight chillin!

Jackson was pumped to go to see the horses and petting farm.  That is until he realized you could actually pet them.  He promptly told them to 'scooottt back!'

Wazzzupppp!

They had some awesome trees to climb at the Harbor Park.   Nothing slowed Jackson down from climbing up 'HIGH,' not even a big ol stanker.

renovation

It has been loud around here.  We are finally renovating the master bathroom.  The loud noise of the constant saw or whatever they are doing up there stops Nash from crying right in his tracks.  The 'workuurrs' and their 'hammas and biggg saw and boom boom' keep Jackson very busy on his own tool bench trying to keep up.  All the decisions on tile, counter tops, faucets, shower heads and colors and mirrors and and and are fun but a little stressful in my perfectionist mind as I picture my tranquil spa bathroom.  I can't wait to light some candles, have a glass of wine and sit on my bench (mmmhmm we got a bench in the shower) in the peace and quiet of my new bathroom.  Maybe in 20 years or so?

group hug

Jackson is a chatter box.  I can see it in his face, his mind constantly turning thinking of what he can say.  His new request (ok, demand, he is very demanding, there is really no nice way to put it) is a 'group hug.'  This is something I will never turn down!

Happy 4th!

I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don't have to sacrifice
All the things we love

yumm?

How about some rice cereal?  Nash had his first tasting this evening.  I would say he had mixed feelings; didn't like the taste very much but couldn't stop eating it.  The rest of us preferred this Blueberry-Pineapple Crisp.  As in I have made it two nights in a row and you should too.
