First Pitch Debut

Nash and Theo's team got to walk out with the Duke Baseball team on Friday night for the National Anthem.  It was tough to cheer for 'the Dukes' but pretty cool to walk out at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.  When we got there they asked Coach Charlie to throw out the first pitch.  The same Coach Charlie who has a bad back and can't lift, work out, etc.  He quickly obliged, 'oh yeah, of course,' and went to stretching in the corner.  He threw it high but made sure, if anything, it wasn't short.  He looked pretty studly doing it too.  Good thing I like baseball!

My loves.  Sorry about that big head, Theo!

Up and down the stairs looking for peanut shells.

Theo and Coach Will! They both take their duties very seriously.

kicks

Nash got off the bus yesterday, showed me his toes dangling out of his shoes and asked when we could get new ones.  The boys have a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of cleats.  They wear them until they have a hole, which does not take long.  We headed to get new ones that afternoon.  Winnie got measured too and got her first pair of sneakers.  And by the looks of it, homegirl will have way more shoes than her brothers could ever imagine.  Holy cow, shoe cuteness overload!
Nikes all around.

Totally!

It was 80's night for our neighborhood supper club this weekend.  I love a good themed party and was a little disappointed in my prep for this one.  But, it all came together last minute.  I mean, when is a mesh top not in style?!
And it snowed (again, spring, please, where you at?!) so the leg warmers were right on time.

Ahhh, the stair rail picture, who didn't have to do this when they were a little kid?

Opening Day!

Theo's entire life has been leading up to this day...

We went for it and signed Theo (who is still only 3 years old) up for T-ball.  I think this is a little early and obsessive and obnoxious but all I know is when he plays in the Major Leagues one day he better remember to thank his mom! We have 3 different baseball teams going on through South Durham Little League right now.  I love the league, the super chaotic practice schedules and locations, not so much.  We are making it happen though and I am thinking it only gets harder from here on out.  My dad, Coach Will, is helping coach Theo's team.  Charlie is helping coach Nash's team.  Jackson is on a team with a bunch of new coaches!  Everyone is adjusting well, and all pulled out a WIN on Saturday.  If I am going to keep bragging, they all got hits too.  This stuff can be stressful on a mama.
Go Rockies! Go Orioles! Go Red Sox! Sorry Winnie!

Denti$t...

Winnie was concerned about Theo's first (whoops, my bad, yep he's almost 4, dangit) dentist appointment as was I.  He did great, was all smiles, loved it, and has two cavities.  I am gonna take all the blame for this one.  We brush, I promise, but we have a lot of teeth to make sure get brushed around here, and it looks as if Theo doesn't have the strongest of teeth.  I guess I should go ahead and make Winnie's appointment.

Dates!

A while back I mentioned The Melting Pot Restaurant to Jackson and Nash and told them that one day we could go for a special occasion.  They did not forget!  Nash got good reports all week from school, 'can we go to that place?' No.  Jackson played good in his basketball game, 'oh let's go to melting pot.'  No. Nash turned 6, 'maybe we should go to that place you told us about.' No.  Mommy won the ACC tourney bracket (winner, winner, got to pick dinner) 'Let's go to the Melting Pot!'  They were pumped.  I was afraid I had talked it up a little too much at first.  They appreciated the cheese and meat, but come on, what are we - ME - really there for, the chocolate.  Looking forward to lots of dessert dates with these two!
We are not Chinese.

Couldn't leave these 2 out.  We hit up Kidzu and some ice cream earlier in the day.  This is Winnie's you are taking too long to feed me face.  We get it a lot these days.

fried fish

'Mom! Come here, we have a surprise for you.'
'Oh gross, what is that? Did you touch it?'
'It's a big dead fish we found and put in a bag.'
'Did you touch it?'
'Barely.'
'Go wash your hands.'
'You are the one who said no tech time!'

11 months!

We almost forgot, Winnie is 11 months!  She is almost ONE YEARS OLD.  What the heck, ya'll? She has officially entered the no chill months and is running us all ragged.  Winnie girl, we will eat you up, we love you so!

Zoom in on all those gappy teeth!

Let me just scoot right up in here to pull out this game with all the little pieces.

What mom? You coming or not?

CHEESE! Unlike all her brothers (who we had to cut before now) she is still lacking in the hair department.

collddd

This weekend we changed our clocks - Spring forward!  I got all excited for it to be lighter and warmer in the evening and then IT SNOWED.  It is mid-March and we live in North Carolina and this is not ok.  It was a cold sleety snow too, not the fun kind.  The boys geared up for about 15 minutes and then decided to come back inside to fight where it was warmer...

book worm

'I'm gonna be excited and enthusiastic every day that God gives me on this earth.' -Jim Valvano

It's March Madness around here.  I got sucked into another ESPN classic, this one was about Jimmy V. I have seen it before and I am sure I will see it again.  I had never noticed this quote though.  I wrote it down in my planner.  It immediately reminded me of Jackson.  His big cheesy smile, dorky sense of humor and love for life is so contagious.
I love this dirty knee, football loving, sloppy eating, book reading goober so much.

Good Sport

And the 'Good Sport' Award goes to Winnie Farris!  The past 2 days she has attended 2 basketball games, 2 football games and 2 baseball practices.  She has also watched hours of these sports at home - all with a smile on her face and very little time to nap.  I will post more about her equally awesome brothers at some point.  We can all agree Winnie is the current family favorite and attached to my hip (literally, ouch), so she gets a lot of press time these days.
