Bathtime before bedtime!

sleeping
Whoever coined the phrase 'sleeping like a baby' was wrong. Here are the facts to prove it. If you are in need of further proof, come on over tonight, I dare you. To their credit, Jackson has a terrible cough keeping him up and I am not very good at letting Nash cry it out because that keeps us all up. Maybe tonight will be the night...

helper
I goin' do it! Jackson likes to help do everything. Cook, mow the grass, fold laundry, put on his clothes, bike to the park, get in his car seat. This is great except that OMG, WTF, it takes forever. Patience is a virtue, a virtue that I sometimes lack. Now if we could just get him to help himself to the bathroom!
I goin do lawn-mowa like my daddy do it.

7 months!
So what is it like to be 7 months old? Well I wake up around 7am (ok-ok really more like 4am for a little snack, I am a growing boy!) have some special mama milk time and then head downstairs to hang out with my brother. Around 10am my mom tricks me into falling asleep in my car seat in the bathroom with the fan blasting loudly. Weird I know. Then we have milk and lunch and usually hang out in my Bjorn for a while outside or running errands. Around 2pm, sneaky mom puts Jackson and I in the car and we go for a 'ride' next thing you know I wake up at our house feeling nice and rested. In the afternoon I hang out in my walker, grasp everything I can and put it in my mouth, swing at the park and wait for my dad to get home! We all have dinner, take a bath (my favorite part), down some milk and head to bed around 8. This is the life.
Glamour shot, I don't always wear this superman onesie...

dinner time
A little clip of dinner time at the Farris household. We keep it classy around here all the time.

spilled milk
Charlie and I are headed to Nashville, TN this weekend for one of my dearest friends weddings. I smile inside every time I think about 2 nights of uninterrupted sleep, my heart sinks inside every time I think about 2 nights with no good night slobbery-snotty kisses. In preparation I have been doing some serious pumping. Last night I was all sleep deprived pumping before I went to bed and wouldn't you know, I walked over to the sink and poured it right down the drain. I may have shed a tear...
One of my all time favorite Hallmark cards.

yum
In need of a weekend sweet treat? I think you should make these Pretzel & Butterscotch Chocolate Chip Cookies now. Jackson likes to help 'cook' so for mother/son bonding purposes we must bake! He helps cook, we have TWO cookies together, he goes to bed and I try to not eat the rest of them. Friday night is getting crazy around here!
Now I wan cook hotdogs...

personality
If Jackson had a theme song right now it would be, Cause you've got personality... He is a goofy sweetheart who is talking up a storm. He says new phrases every day, good and bad. After Nash sneezed, "God bless you Nash!" When I told him the den is a mess, "It's clean up time mommy." Listening to Nash scream in the car, "It's ok Nash, not much longer till we home." At the park, "I got a big doodoo, it stanks!" Before he goes to bed, "I luvvvv ew mommy!"
"I gon go fast!"

hair-do
Nash is in need of a serious hair trim. His comb-over is getting a little out of hand, but I do hope it stays this way until Halloween. The costume ideas are endless... Sumo wrestler, Pebbles Flinstone, Hitler, Dwight Schrute, what else you got?
Good thing she hasn't pulled out the bows.

1st Day!
Jackson had his 1st day of pre-school today! He was not very excited about it. After I finally got out of there, I would say it was a success! He told me they did singing, dance party, red paint, balls and had goldfish for lunch. It can't get any better than that. Jackson is getting 'I so big,' as he would say.

laboring
Any big plans for Labor Day weekend? We have some family coming over so I think it is time to put a little labor of love into this house. My grandma emailed me this quote from Jerry Seinfield, "A two year old is like a blender without a top." So true, I would like to add husbands to that...
Party on!

game day
We all went to the Carolina home opener football game today. It was a tarheel whoopin'. I cannot promise you that we will ALL go again this year. Everyone was really well behaved but it wasn't really that much fun. Jackson is good for some tailgating and the first half. Nash could use a year or so before he goes back. I am a selfish mama who wants to tailgate and watch the game without being pre-occupied. I am sure if we do ever go without them that I will spend most of my time on my phone asking for updates and pictures of my boys. It is like that everyday. I can't wait for them to go down for a nap or to bed and then 10 minutes after they do... I miss them. They have every bit of my heart. (and my arms and back and brain and house and and and)
'It's hot mommy, I wan ice-ceammmm'
'Just hurry and take the pic, I can feel Jackson creepin''
