Touch a Truck

I had big plans for Saturday.  Charlie did not have to work and we were gonna be in town.  First we would go cheer daddy on at his basketball game, then go to Touch A Truck at the mall, then have a nice family lunch, then hit up Sam's Club for some twin mattresses (We are about to attempt to share a room with bunk beds which I am sure they will transition right in to with no problems…) and then everyone would be ready for a nice long nap.   But instead life happened.  It rained a lot, basketball was cancelled.  We went to Touch a Truck in the rain because if you tell Jackson you are going to do something you better do it!  He loved it until we had to leave because all Nash wanted to do was sit in the puddles or stay in the car and chew gum.  Everyone cried, I didn't even bring up lunch but we would make it to Sam's and get those mattresses.  We went there, Nash wanted someone to hold him the whole time and Jackson wanted to push the ginormous cart in to things the whole time.  Everyone cried because they were sooooo hungry.  We scarfed down hot dogs and pizza at Sam's Club (yeah, they were both really good) and left because everyone was crying.  I lost my cool and screamed, only to feel really disappointed in myself for acting just like them, so I cried too.  No one napped because no one could stop having freak attacks.  We never got the mattresses.  We shall try again tomorrow.  Some days are just meant for some serious TV time.

Jersey Mike's

For all you people that read this blog and may just be hungry for lunch, I suggest you go to your local Jersey Mike's today. A shameless plug yes, but for an awesome cause. Today, 100% of sales from all triangle stores will go to the Jimmy V Foundation! I am very proud to be a part of this and hope to see you there! And if you don't live around here, don't fret! Jersey Mike's stores throughout the country are joining forces with more than 100 local charities for the company’s 4th Annual March “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. Last year’s Month of Giving raised $1.7 million for 86 different charities nationwide and this year Jersey Mike’s hope to raise even more.

March Madness

As everyone else watched the final seconds of the big game these guys managed to find the few pieces of leftover pizza, get them on to the floor, pick off all the mushrooms and enjoy.  Pizza wins again.

Do you know what I love?  Pillsbury cinnamon rolls out of the popping can.  They are better than homemade ones, yep I said it, they just are.  You know what I don't love?  How I feel after I accidentally eat 8 of them.  You know who else loves cinnamon rolls?  These boys.  This is working out perfectly.  The sun is out and we are filled with sugar, it is gonna be a good day.

So good I close my eyes when I eat them.

Do you want me to cut it for you Nash? NOO WAYY!

I would have given you a 'selfie' picture but my pajamas aren't as cute...

besties

Last week we took off for a quick afternoon trip to Wilmington to see one of my favorite people and her 2 sweet babes.  Sarah Beth and I grew up together and whether they like it or not these kiddos will be hanging out for many years to come!  I love having best friends to grow old with.

Nash was in lovveeee with baby Chandler.

But really ya'll back up off me, I got this baby thing under control.  (please, please stay this way!)

Lucky Me!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We wore our green this weekend because today it is cold and rainy and we may just stay in our pajamas until lunch time.  You can do that when you are 3 1/2 and 2 and pregnant, right?  We had a beautiful Saturday in Wilson, watching the ACC tourney with family and friends and playing lots of ball outside.  He may not have the stance or swing just yet, but Nash has got the face down pat.  Jackson prefers to be the umpire.  We need to invest in some helmets asap, this is a trip to the ER in the making.

Play!

Instead of writing up a good blog post or doing the dishes or sweeping the dirt that I can actually see all on the floor I am going to PLAY with my boys.  That is what they want me to do and what they are going to remember and that is what I often have to remind myself.  This little blog post, World's Best Playing Mom, was written just for me today.  Admittedly, I am not gonna play Jake and the Neverland Pirates, I just can't do it.  Admittedly, I hope to make them both really tired and at least one of them will take a nap this afternoon and I can check some things off my list.  Until then we will just play.

This stud playing trains at one of their favorite spots, the book store!

Doing some 'work stuff' outside on a gorgeous day.

Our first Lacrosse game, go Tarheels!

After a good long day you can always use a donut!

spring forward!

We had a fun filled weekend full of an Aunt Sarah 25th birthday celebration, warm baseball games and a big rivalry basketball game.  Unfortunately the Tar Heels lost to 'Will and Tat's team the Dukes' so daddy had to shave his 12 game winning streak beard (or fortunately…).  Jackson has not been a big fan and was excited to see it go.  The weather has warmed up nicely the past few days and no one can appreciate 'spring forward' more than a mom with kids who need to get out that evening energy.  Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy!

Someone has got to shave around here!

warning - bare belly

I said I would never ever put a picture of my bare belly on any sort of Internet / social media / etc.  So go ahead and make fun of me, I cringe at my own self.  BUT I have to do it.  Just look at this love.  I think Nash already knows he may not like his little brother at times so he is getting in all the peace and quiet and controlling love that he can right now.  The boy loves to give kisses to 'yo belly' and his momma.

Get away dad, this is MINE.

Veggie Soup

I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes by myself.  It is relaxing and satisfying to just make something good.  This rarely happens.  Lucky for me I have handy helpers by my side at all times to tell me what is hot, what is nasty, what smells bad and that we should make some dessert.  Yesterday Jackson and I made this Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup Recipe.  It is super easy, makes a ton, healthy and taste good.  Check, check, and check.  I add a little salt, pepper and Worsterchesire Sauce to it, because I am so culinary.

'I like to help you make everything mom but I don't like to eat it all.  Maybe dad will be so happy and surprised when I let him eat my vegetables.'

short & sweet

I just got back from a whirl-wind solo trip to California to visit with my sweet niece, Hannah!  The flights were nice and long but thankfully everything went smoothly for this big pregnant lady.  And let's face it, it was now or never for a visit!  Hannah showed me a lovely time around San Jose, visiting her favorite eating (The Counter, Ike's, San Pedro Square Market ) and shopping (Willow Glen, Santana Row) spots.  It was a great 'girls' trip.
Jackson was not too excited about my trip and made me promise next time I went to California he could go.  Poor guys, while I was gone their Grandmama came and took the to the museum and Chic-fil-a and Jersey Mike's.  Then they met their Tat-Tat and went to Wilson where they did 'special things' and went to Dinosaur Train Live!  Then they did boy things with their dad like go to birthday parties and parks...  I think they were excited to see me get home?!

Rocking the Nike's with lace socks at story time.

Late night belly rubs with mom.

Meanwhile back on the East Coast, pizza lunch!
