1st Grade!

Today was the day!  The first day of first grade!  Jackson has a brand new, right out of college, teacher, Mrs. Poston, bless her and what seems to be an awesome class.  He was not nervous in the least bit, like wouldn't even let his dad walk him in the school.  I asked him how it was at pick-up.  'Good, we had corn dog nuggets for lunch, a guy at my table's name is Jackson too, and I played with Cal.  Oh, we worked on some project stuff but I don't think we finished anything.'  I'll take it!

Goober!  School starts at 7:45 this year.  A BIG adjustment for the Farris family.  He was in bed by 9:00 last night... that is a start, right?!

Meanwhile, back at the homefront...  Since we were all up and at it the guys worked in the yard.

And Theo helped me make some dinner.  I figure the kitchen was already a mess, I may as well.  And it was so freaking nice just popping it in the oven tonight!

underpants

We have been playing with our new neighbors all day, every day.  They are some super great kids, but it can make for some hectic exhausting days.  The other day they decided to make an underpants store.  Nash informed me this is just practice and they will do the real one when he is 16 years old.  They only sold one pair of paper underpants, but Jackson was not surprised, they didn't even have a Grand Opening party. I have no idea how they came up with this idea, but I think it is hilarious and everyone needs underpants.   It sounds like they have been listening to their dad and I think we have a pretty good idea on our hands.

The Dive

We headed over to 'The Farm' pool a few days ago and Jackson and Nash jumped off the diving board over and over and over.  We have some pretty stellar cannonballs.  The dives... still perfecting the technique.

Yeah, we are gonna give those a 1.5 for effort...

'Hey Mom.  This is funny.  People are talking to me and they don't know I'm sitting here butt naked.'

Monday Goodness

I spotted these at Trader Joe's the other day and got some for my boys, because I am a #1 mom.  Then I ate one while they were asleep and promptly hid them in the back of the freezer.  Some things are just too good to share.  Now when they are yelling and fighting about who knows what, I turn the fan on and eat one in the bathroom, because they are that good.  And it is the last week of summer.  And I deserve it.  Go get you some,  I won't tell.

hangry

I wouldn't let Theo have waffle number 5 yesterday, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.  How much food will they eat when they are teenagers?!  Will they be able to survive off of subs, Doritos and cookies alone?  We will soon find out.

Grand Opening!

Tomorrow is the Grand Opening for our third Jersey Mike's in Chapel Hill.  It is going to rock it, I have zero doubt.  First off, Jersey Mike's subs are the best subs money can buy, that is why we looked into the franchise in the first place.  Second, it is owned and operated and loved by the best people I know.  Third, it is right down the street from our house, like we could eat there every single day if needed, not that we would, but we could.

Group shot of my favorite boys.  Monday was 'Family & Friends' night and they rocked it.

Weekend Vibes

August is in full heat mode around here.  We attempt to get outside first thing or hit up the pool because mid-day is some kind of hot.  We had a good weekend at home!!

Getting in a little early morning fishing.  Nash, surprisingly, really enjoys it, he is not the most patient 4 year old you have ever met.

Tacos and a do-rag, because, well, it's Jackson and everyone in our family loves some tacos!

Fancy little hand-me-down church outfit.  I tried to get a picture, Theo ain't got time for that!

Dixie Chicks Live in Concert!  Living out my high-school dream with my high-school sweet heart and my favorite chick.

Winning

Today the mailman delivered a big box of wine.  Talk about a win-win for everybody.  Safety first ya'll!

Big Boy

I have gotten to spend a little extra time with my sweet sweaty six year old this week.  We have had some lunch dates without his #1 fans.  He has talked to me with no interruptions and I have actually been able to listen with no interruptions.  He is goofy and dorky and inquisitive and a big fat lover of life and all things except vegetables.  He still curls up to me and twirls my hair when I let him and always says 'I love you mom.'   Six years old is the best age yet.  It just keeps getting better ya'll.

Celebrating!

This weekend was full of celebrations!  First off, Grandmama and Grand-daddy have been married for 40 years!  They must have gotten married at the ripe age of 10.  ;)  We went to Soco Farms for dinner at the Chef's table on Friday night to celebrate.  If you are up for a little drive and some farm to table goodness then this place is a must!  To continue the celebration on Saturday night we let them baby-sitt the boys while we celebrated a beautiful friend's wedding.  Lindsey got married in Key West last weekend with her family and we all got to celebrate and swoon over her pictures this weekend.  She is an interior designer so as you can imagine everything was super chic and she was gorgeous.  A weekend full of love!
Adults do dinner!

Adults do church!  Except we missed most of it.  It wasn't the best behaved morning for the Farris brothers...

Camp Becky!

We had nothing lined up for this week.  Just a week to regroup, clean, catch up on laundry, mow the grass, get some things done around the house... bahhhhh, silly mommy.  When school starts back I can get started on all my 'summer' projects, I had forgotten, 'MOM, MOMMY, HEY MOM, MOM LOOK, LOOK MOM, MOM, MAAAMMMM!' This was just Monday morning at 9am.  We (mommy) had to get up on out the house.  'Camp Becky' came out in full force and we had ourselves a nice exhausting week.  Memories made, maybe?  Some things - words - I hope they forget, yes.  I have no idea how you can love someone sooo freaking much that can drive you sooo crazy!  They are just like me in so many ways, so please, pray for their father.

I do not like the name 'Becky' at all.  But I do like to humor myself, kids will do that to you.

Triple slip-n-slide.  This thing looked way cooler on the box and it is not 3 easy steps, but it is fun!

We met cousins at Three Bear Acres.  This place is amazing.  It was overcast, no one was there, and we stayed until it closed. A mud kitchen, we could have just stayed here the entire time and been fine.

Sling shots!

The slide!  Despite Theo's face, he kept going back for more!

Taking swing break before we headed to the bounce bubble, tree house and slip and slides!

We hit up Kidzu another day.  Good for the little guys, but Jackson has just about grown out of it.  'Theo paint, its dirty, you won do it mommy?'

Maple View Ice Cream is set up right outside the museum.  Good marketing.  We will never just walk by here.  I mean Camp Becky needs fuel.

We hit up a Carolina Mudcats game one night.  You want to know the real reason... a pokemon even was going on.  SMH ya'll, SMDH.

A friend texted one morning... it is sooo nice outside  (85 vs. 105) ya'll want to come over for bike ride, yes we do.  They have the coolest backyard ever and she has 4 boys.  We are ultimately on the same mission, get them tired.

They don't nap, so I try and think of something for them to do that keeps them quiet so Theo can snooze and I can think for a second.  Our friends sent us home with Perler beads, they were a solid 30 minute activity.  You know I already looked them up on Amazon.

Olympics!

The countdown is on, it is almost time for the Olympics.  We had a neighborhood Olympic themed supper club this weekend - equipped with dirty Rio water and bug spray.  We dressed as the Lebanon basketball team (where the Farris family hails from) and in true Charlie style, dominated in everything.
Rio!

Look at that right bicep.  Yep, I got something besides a thick mid section for carrying all these boys around!

Earlier this week a lot of us from the neighborhood went to Orange Theory to get in a pre-workout and have a few drinks.  2020 - Here we come!
