field trip

Tat-Tat and Nat-Nat (The Babysitters Club) took Jackson and Nash to Fort Fisher Aquarium this past Sunday.  They had a blast, Jackson even touched the huge snack.  I have repeatedly reminded him when he sees a snake in our backyard he does not touch it and comes to tell me!  Then I will kill it.  Yep, sorry all you animal lovers, I don't do snakes, any kind of snakes.

The albino alligator, Jackson was the least weirded out.

I love Nat-Nat! She lives in Wilmintooon.  Let's ride on the dinosaur train to Wilmintooon to see Nat!

Looks like Nash is having a blast...??! (And he is as big as Tat-Tat)

Saturday morning

We don't do Saturday morning cartoons around here, we do books!  Jackson is getting pretty good with   his 'reading' skills if I do say so myself.  Where the Wild Things Are is his current favorite.  Oh and I was totally kidding about the cartoons thing.  He just watched one hour of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and when I turned it off you would have thought I had chopped his foot off.

boys will be boys?

Have y'all seen this blog, Reasons my son is crying?  It is hilarious and just the smile I need every now and then.  I could totally make one for Nash, sorry bud the truth hurts sometimes.  I want to start a blog called, Where is my son peeing? I could post up all the random places that Jackson feels the need to pull it out, find the nearest tree, and let it go.  This freedom won't last for long, so yes, I let him do it, and yes I take pictures with my phone.

Any guesses of where we are?

morning routine

Nash wakes up ready to go in the morning.  Right when we gets downstairs he points to the freezer because he wants a fruit bar (ok, popsicle) but instead he gets a waffle or oatmeal and takes it down.  After that he goes to the pantry to let me know it is time to get Greta's food, this might be his favorite part of the day...

Jackson on the other hand is a little more slow moving like his mom.  He usually comes in my bed to snuggle for a few and then wants to 'pleassseeee watch ONE show mom?'  He has to have breakfast first and has learned that he can suck down a fruit & veggie squeeze in about 10 seconds and then get on with his show.  No pictures of video of him this morning.  He likes to do all of this in the nude.  Lets be serious though, who doesn't?!

How about a box of cheese to start your morning off on the right foot.

Nash-a-roo-ski

Nash has it all figured out.  He knows 4 words and has a mean pterodactyl scream. With that he gets whatever he wants in life.  MAAAMM-MAAAMMM is his main form of communication.  This means to pick him up immediately and carry him around to whatever he points to.  Do not even think about putting him down (insert pterodactyl scream) until he addresses you to do so.  Uh-Oh is also high on the list.  This means he has thrown something on the floor and wants you to pick it up immediately.  WorrWorl is his other word, I know I should be embarrassed, but I think it is hilarious.  Along with his bestest bud Jackson, he loves the TV show Word World.  He dances to the theme music and then stands as close to the TV as physically possible for a good 5 minutes.  To only be 13 months old, I feel this is a pretty good attention span.  And I have perfected cleaning out the dishwasher in those 5 minutes.  Last but not lease is Geettaa.  His beloved dog treat sharer and fellow toilet water lover.  My little man is making me proud!
His new facial expression.  He has been squinting his nose and giving the stink eye to anyone who looks his way for the past week.  Except for me, I get open mouth slobber cheese breath kisses, love them and him!

ball!

Baseball season is in full swing around here.  Last night was a Fike high school baseball game, tonight a Jersey Mike's softball game, tomorrow a Durham Bulls minor league game and Friday a Tarheels game.  Yep, I think I am going to be ready for something to eat besides a hotdog and maybe even a pedicure this weekend.   But for now the weather is nice and these boys are loving some ball and can take down some hotdogs.

Ok, listen up dad, you gotta hit it far.

Hey batter, batter, swing batter, batter

BALL!

Jackson-isms

I wish I could bottle up Jackson's joy, love and humor at this age.  He is such a sweet and caring goof ball.  He says something new every single day.  It will not be as funny on paper but I have to remember some of these things for when he is older.  Straight from the mouth of a 2 1/2 year old...

I told the worker do you have diet coke and he said yes.  So where is my diet coke?

Hey Nashy! Come in here to the boot party!

You need to catch the ball because if it goes in the street cars might come and you need to be careful mom.  Hold your hands out and listen to me, ok?

Can I have a cookie nowwww please mom nowwww.  Yes or no?

Wait a minute, I got something to tell you mom. I LOVE YOU! And Dad and Nashy and Greta! And my cousin baby Hannah.

I am just resting in my nest because I am frustrated today.

I need to tell you one thing before I get in the shower mom.  Big boys have weinies and butts, ok?

Waking up from his nap and yelling downstairs.
Mom, you tell me what's your favorite dinosaur?

I just cleaning up Nashy's mess for you wif my mouf mom.  I pretending to be a dog like Greta.

Take a picture of me like this mom.  Send it to Tat-tat.

gone fishing

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  They also say looks can be deceiving. Before this picture was taken Jackson had already pulled out all the fishing poles in our garage, decided on this big rusted one that had 2 hooks dangling from it, cut his leg with one, knocked out my eye with the fishing weight and then dropped it in the pond.  Nash made his way down to the pond and was throwing Greta droppings in to it, yep you read that right.  Mean while Greta was gallivanting around the other side of the pond as I yelled at her and pretended to have everything under control.  Then dad got home, I went to Target, they caught their first fish of the season, all was well again.

chuck-town-baby!

We did it!  This past weekend Charlie and I headed to Charleston for the annual Cooper River Bridge Run.  We have been every year since we got engaged except for last year when Nash was keeping me a little busy.   I have not run more than 3 miles since the last time we ran (2011), but we plodded right along and 'ran' the whole time!  On to more important things, the food.  We tried out some new spots and some old faithfuls, they were all to die for.  If you are headed down anytime you need to check out Fulton Five and Hank's for a delicious romantic dinner with your man.  I am so thankful for this man and that he asked me to marry him and that he did it in Charleston and that he takes me back every year!
Post run treats at Fleet Landing.

big boy

We headed to the #1 ranked Tarheels baseball game the other night.  Jackson loved every minute of it.  He watched a good 2 innings in his seat.  Asking a lot of 'whys' and gut laughing when a batter 'missed' the ball.  I told him he could yell as loud as he wanted to the players.  He hollered out 'I got $20 in my pocket! I gotta pop some tags!'  Noted, I need to start being more aware as to what station we are listening to in the car.  He then found a ball and headed out to play some 'toss and catch' with me until he saw some big boys.  He told me, 'you don't need to play with me anymore mom' and headed over to where everyone else was.  My heart broke a little when he told me that and then again at how sweet the other boys were with him.  I think they were all very surprised when he informed them he was 2 1/2 not 5.  My baby Jackson is growing too fast!

April 3, 2013

books!

My boy loves to 'read.'  He doesn't tear the pages out or chew the books. Instead he turns the page when you are ready and smiles at certain parts.  I don't think he understands the story but something is turning in that big head of his.  His favorite book is Little Gorilla.  He gets super excited when 'Little gorilla began to grow and grow and grow...'  It is the last book we read every night before bed because I love to see that sleepy grin.
My dad's book when he was little, a classic!

Whoops, hold on I skipped a page.

Happy Easter!

He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Cool church, think I can bang out a few notes on the organ over there?

Cool church, loved the sermon...

Did you really just wake me up and expect me to take a picture?

Now this is more like it!

Sup mom, my bro is crazy.
