Happy Thanksgiving!

Lucky for our little family, we come from two huge families that live all of an 1 1/2 away and like to eat some turkey!  We headed to Wilson and Goldsboro for Thanksgiving seeing lots of old cousins and finally meeting lots of new cousins!  I need a new camera for Christmas to take some pictures or maybe just a new iPhone because I already have a nice camera that I never lug around.  I digress, we hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, I am very thankful for you all!

mini reunion weekend

This past weekend some of my best college friends came in to town with babies and dogs and pregnant bellies in tow.  It was nothing like weekends we have had in the past.  Two people did get sick from partying so hard but they were 1 and 2 years old.  Someone even jumped in the pond! He was also 2.  It is hard to all get together these days but I really hope this can become a nice little tradition and that I will start taking some decent pictures!

Feeding the ducks, pre run through the pond.

I laughed (hey, it wasn't my kid), Jackson stood there and shouted, 'why did you do that?', and his mother looked at me and said, 'is it bad I am not going in after him?'  He seemed unharmed and ready to head back out.

Just a morning game of monsters.

Nash and his girlfriend Addison.  Poor guy needed a break from having to be the 'bad guy' the whole time.

Traditional morning pancakes and special coffee drinks...

Go heels!

Boys table, taking a break from tackling, pimpin' in the Blue Zone.

Ahmm, this game is boring.  The 4th quarter was cut short, seriously it was, who does that in 1A college football?  At least we were on the good side of the blow out.

three and a half!

Happy three and a half day to this big guy.  Thanks for bringing me so much joy Jackson and always keeping us on our toes.  You are the best!

'If something smells weird, I'm just pootin, ok mom?'

thankful

We have a banner hanging over our kitchen window that says, 'be thankful.'  I pull it out every year for some added Thanksgiving decor.  I don't know why I don't keep it up all year long, on my front porch for that matter.  I often get caught in the day to day things and forget to take a look around, or right under my feet, at all that I have been blessed with.  Thankfully every now and then God throws me a curve ball to remind me that he is in charge.

This was a good one.  I am a planner.  For example, I like to know exactly when my children will be born, exactly how far apart they will be, if they will be a boy or girl (ha).  But it sure is nice to know that I am NOT in charge.  Can you imagine, I am a little bit crazy.  So thanks be to God, the Farris family is welcoming another little nugget in May.  We will have a 3 year old (ok, almost 4 but 3 sounds more dramatic and I feel like being dramatic) a 2 year old and a little baby that will sleep through the night because our toddler doesn't (ok God!?).  For all of this I am so thankful! Now pray for me ya'll.

Burgers, Beer & Baby Talk!

Saturday we hosted a couples baby shower for my brother and sister-in-law, aka UNC & Brit.  We had burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings plus mac & cheese, deviled eggs, cake pops, etc. etc!  We kept it simple and opted for no 'baby games' but instead had a 'Bet on the babies date and weight board' and the 'Hotdog! Photo Booth.' I can't wait for my sweet niece to arrive, I am betting on December 22nd.  Christmas time babies are the best!

hide & seek

Boys are so loud and big and loud and needy and loud and intense and loud and love their mama?!  Or maybe it is just me?  I have found a way to buy myself approximately 5 minutes of quiet time.  We play hide & seek.  I slowly count to 20 as I get dressed, do my hair, put on some mascara, put clothes in the laundry, find the dirty diaper under the bed, brush my teeth and they 'hide.'  They hide wherever I last hid, so sneaky.  So I spend another 5 minutes 'looking' for them in the laundry room, in the dishwasher downstairs, sometimes even outside in the trash can and they don't make a sound.  It is pretty impressive actually.  And then I find them and we all yell and run around and tackle, because that is what boys do??
Where could they be?

You found us! ? !

yum

It is getting cold around here.  Time to start embracing some extra winter pounds to help keep us warm.  No one likes a good donut more than me, except for theses two boys.  They like to 'treat' me every now and then with 'something special.'
Pink icing with sprinkles.  Dreamy.

dinner

Mom, this is the best dinner you ever did make us.  Will you take a picture of me? -Jackson

Rotisserie chicken with ketchup, half a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, strawberries and carrots with hummus.  Ha! What a mom, what a mom.

PS - we are currently getting our kitchen cabinets resurfaced, whoop whoop!

Happy Halloween!

The day finally arrived, the real Halloween night was finally here! We dressed up in matching Fireman costumes.  I got Nash's fireman coat approximately 1 hour before the party because he refused to wear the hand-me down dinosaur costume or the super cool Spider-man costume, no matter how hard I tried.  I should have known he would have an opinion and that it would be he wanted to dress just like his big brother.  On a side note, Jackson's first choice of costume was Mickey Mouse, which we found at a consignment shop for $2.99.  But just take a look, I couldn't let him wear it could I??  He is 3 so whatever he wants to be go for it.  After looking at himself in the mirror he found it as funny as I did.  'Look at this big head and huge diaper I am wearing!'  The next day he decided 'Maybe I can be Mickey another day and this Halloween I can be a fireman mom.'  I agreed it was a good idea.
We headed out to a neighborhood pre trick or treat party that was really the best part.  Afterwards Charlie took them to about 3 houses before Jackson declared he wanted to go home and hand out the candy and Nash had a freak attack if he was not allowed to immediately eat the candy.  I would say it was a success. Today I have perfected the act of 'you can have one piece' while eating 7 pieces on the sneak. It is a mother's right.

Streets are safe!

You know, I know, this is just a raincoat.

I gotta walk slow so I don't lost any of my fireman stuff mom.

Trick or Treat! Thank-you!
