Sweetest

Everyone enjoyed a trip to the dentist today, talk about fun start to spring break.  We had zero cavities and  only need to work on flossing.  Do ya'll really floss your kids teeth, or your own, come on now, be honest.  Anyways, their dentist rocks and has these little boards for them to draw on while they are waiting.  I was sitting there, attempting to keep Theo occupied and listen to the hygienist when Jackson whispered over, 'Hey mom!'  I didn't cry right there in the dentist office, but I could feel it creeping up.  Instead I took a picture, and will remember it forever and ever.

Easter!

'In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.' -John 16:33

Jesus is alive!  Happy Easter!  We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday.  The Easter bunny came, we had a very moving church service and a safe trip to Wilson to celebrate with our families.  I love Easter.

'How does the Easter bunny get in our house? Is he a mom or a dad? Are their a lot of them? Do they go to China?  By hopping?'   I need to brush up on my Easter bunny etiquette.

Easter Sunday prep.

Sugar-coated Easter studs.  Thank-you God for these boys.

First things first, we wrestle at Grandmama's house.

The weather cleared up and we got some good soggy outside time in after our first feast of BBQ and all the fixes.

We headed to my parents house and my mom reminded me I needed a picture with my boys, I would want it later, and I wouldn't even notice how greasy my hair was.  The got another bang trim for dad, luckily I caught him before he started evening it out.

Grill masters Nash and Uncle David.  The ribs were a hit.

But not as good as the ice cream sandwich cake.  Papa & Theo had 'just a little bit more.'

Egg Hunting

And this is how we get ready for an Easter egg hunt around here.  Not that we are competitive or anything.  We Will Rock You is a timeless Winslow pump up jam.

I WAN HIT!

I don't think Theo is going to have any trouble keeping up with his big bros.  Obviously, the best part about baseball is smacking the plate with your bat.  If nothing else, the Farris brothers have got that part down.

The many faces of DAD, DADDDYYY, DAAADDDD!!!

You know how I say Charlie is a #1 dad, well I really mean it.  He is the biggest and kindest 'kid' in our family. He wears a lot of different hats around here and always smiles while doing it.  This weekend he did not have to 'work' at Jersey Mike's but as always I had him a nice little list.  Some of the good stuff, I don't take pics of the bad...

Friday night baseball game.  UNC vs. Duke at the Durham Bulls Stadium.  Tar heels win again!

Saturday afternoon we helped hosts one of Charlie's BFF engagement party, it got weird.

Sunday was church, a luncheon for our Syrain refugee friends, flag football and then he helped me at the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt.  Grill master, didn't even have time to change out of his suit.

Finally that evening he relaxed with our 'small group' through church...

Bulldogs!

This afternoon the boys had their last flag football game.  I overcommitted and wasn't going to be able to make it to the game like I was hoping.  I don't know why, but I got really bummed out about it.  We were at a luncheon and the big guys had to head out to their game as they were already super late.  When they walked out Nash said, 'You are coming to our last game, right mom?!!'  My heart sank, and my throat started to swell up.  He kept on walking, not even waiting to hear my response. The good news is, he will never remember this.  The bad news is, I will.  Parenting will get you sometimes.  Thankfully I am surrounded by awesome mamas,  and they send me pictures and videos and make sure my boys have water, etc.  It really does take a village.

'Oh yeah, we weren't in the game so just talking plays!'

Trophy time!

#1 daddy coach, giving out trophies, all suited up.

Go Bulldogs!  1st season of flag football was our favorite sport yet.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

May your troubles be less,
Your blessings be more,
And nothing but happiness
Come through your door.
'So far just turtles.  Guess they like my shirt.' -Nash

Today we wear green, look for clovers and sneaky leprechauns, eat mint ice cream, make fruit loop rainbows and if you aren't so lucky,  PINCH YOUR HINEY!  Remember before you had kids?  You didn't even get to do this fun stuff...

mawninggg!

Rise & Shine!  I have been having to wake these dudes up for school the past few days.  Hello... daylight savings time, lots of outside playing and staying up way too late.  We can't skimp on breakfast around here though. It is my favorite time of the day with these boys.  This week we are on a waffle kick, and by waffles I mean chocolate chip Eggo waffles, health freaks.

Tar Heels - Touch - A - Truckin'

This Saturday we hit up the annual Touch-A-Truck.  It was just me and the bros so I laid down the law before we got there - We have to stay together and help each other out.  Jackson added in 'No fighting or saying dookie words.' And Nash 'I will try really hard to not pick my nose.'  Lucky for us we spotted Brooklyn and UNC right when we arrived so we got to hang with them.  Theo was NOT a fan of the super loud honks and sirens so he pretty much had a death grip on my neck the entire time while crying, 'noo! no! mommy no!' so we kept our distance from most of the trucks.  All in all I guess you could say it was fun?...

The ease at which Nash climbed into the back of the police car was a little too close for comfort.

'BALL! BAKETTBALL, SOOT, SOOT!'  This is where we spent the majority of our time.  In our comfort zone.

Sweet cousins and Locopops!

After that we headed to the Orange Tigers last game of the year.  It was a close one but they win again!  Seriously though, I was very impressed by how much better the entire team got.  No comparison between the first game of the year and the last.

And then we hopped in the car and headed to Wilson for a few hours.  Charlie's family had their annual ACC weekend with family and friends so we dropped in to see everyone and wrestle.  And how about those Tar Heels!

Spring-ing!

Every Spring, I forget how much I love Spring.  Maybe I should say, how much I need Spring.  Boys have to go outside.  There is no crafting or coloring or having tea parties around here - sounds dreamy - but instead we head outside to get out energy.  The past few days have been good for everyone's soul.  Lots of ball games, park time and exploring around the pond.  And, knock on wood, Theo has been taking some killer afternoon naps.

Go Theo Go!  'I wan do it.  Siiiddee. I gon do it. Mommy do it!'

No duck left behind!  Really though, they follow us around the pond.  I think they listen out for when our back door opens.

A little evening ACC Tournament action.  Tar heels vs. Globetrotters.

A little Friday Snow Cone action.  You should have see Jackson's face light up when he heard that truck music.  You should have seen how fast he ran upstairs and emptied his piggy bank when I told him I didn't have any cash.

Jersey Mike's Love

Check out this crew!  These are the people that work day in and day out at Jersey Mike's Subs.  They treat my husband as if he is the best person around to work with (I think so) and my boys as if they were their own. I love them for it!  We celebrated everyone with a huge banquet style meal at Maggiano's.  Looking forward to many more years with these people AND coming soon... a new Jersey Mike's not even a mile from our house!

SUPERHEROS

Sometimes being a brother
is even better than being a superhero.
This is a close as I can get to cute matching outfits and everyone looking.  Yes, they are standing in front of the dessert table eating donuts.  Like mother, like sons.

weekend-ing

The weekend has come and gone and it is like I never even knew it was here.  We did lots of running around this weekend, which kind of stresses me out, the risk of no naps and meltdowns and getting hangry, and sometimes my kids misbehave too.  We made it and all had an awesome weekend.

Rise and Shine!  An 8am victory for the Orange Tigers started our weekend off strong!

After the game we headed to my cousin's engagement luncheon in Goldsboro.  My aunt's house is awesome and the weather was perfect.  We grubbed out, the boys played football & baseball and I didn't take a single picture... Afterwards we headed over to visit with Papa for a few, and my mom got the sweetest picture you ever did see.  My Papa was a singer and owned Frederick's music store his entire life.  His mind is slowly drifting but he continues to sing beautifully to this day.  Whenever we hear someone older singing a hymn or 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' on the radio my boys always say wow listen to Papa, and I never correct them.

On the way back home everyone crashed.  Nash was ready to get in the game if needed.

We got back to Chapel Hill well rested and just in time to put on our Tar Heel gear and head over to our neighbors house.  'GAAHHH TAAHH HEEEL! TUTTS DOWN!'

A Tar Heel victory AND ice cream Sundays.  Heaven.

Sunday was church and drive-thru Bojangles.  A new 'tradition' I guess you could say... I am on a mission to bring back Jason's Deli!  Then we headed to flag football where the Bulldogs got a W and Jackson got the Sportsmanship medal - making his mama so proud.  Afterwards we headed to the mall to get a new pair of shoes for everyone.  They all have ONE pair?!  I had to bribe them to get a new pair?!  Then they were really well behaved while Charlie got fitted for a suit... I decided we needed to roll on out to a park.  We are not mall strolling people just yet.  Bring it on Monday!

bros

Sometimes my boys are not allowed to play or talk or touch or look or breath on each other.  I know this is hard to do, but it is just necessary.  If they do any of this they will fight or scream or whine and I just can't handle it.  But, every now and then they play a game together nicely for more than 3 minutes, and it is so freaking awesome.  I overheard them playing a new Paw Patrol board game the other day.

Nash - 'Oh my gosh your breath smells disgusting.  Did you eat rotten eggs and drink dookie?'
Jackson - 'It's your own breath you are smelling... smells like diarrhea to me.'

Then I cringe as I hear the sound of stank breath being blown in each others face.

cousins

Lucky Theo has the cutest 'older' cousin that lives right in town.  Brooklyn is only 5 months older but that is a pretty big difference when you are just babies.  They have just started to really 'play' and it is hilarious.  Theo still has a hard time keeping up with 'briikkkyynnnn' but he tries.  This girl is gonna rule the school and she will always have some cousins watching after her!

CHHEEESSEEE!

Hurry, Jackson and Nash are upstairs, we can finally play this game!

'FEEOOO! FEEOOO! HEY FEEOOO! WUV YOU FEEOO!'
